Phlebotomy Training
How to train to become a phlebotomist with The Phlebotomy Trainer
2 min read
First of all you don't need have a degree and English doesn't have to be your first language to excel at Phlebotomy. Phlebotomy is as much about patient care as it is to be proficient in the theory of how to draw blood.
Our Phlebotomy training is a program designed to educate individuals on the proper techniques and procedures for drawing blood from patients. The training involves learning how to locate veins, insert needles, and collect blood samples. The curriculum also covers topics such as infection control, patient safety, and the proper handling and storage of blood samples.
Our Phlebotomy training equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and GP practices. It emphasises the importance of good communication, accuracy, professionalism, and compassion when interacting with patients. By completing our phlebotomy training, individuals can pursue a career as a phlebotomist and play a crucial role in the healthcare field by ensuring the accurate and efficient collection of blood samples for diagnostic purposes.
Our curriculum has been developed while working alongside NELFT NHS.

Quality, not quantity
We focus our Phlebotomy Training on 3 areas:
1) Theory training - Based on our bespoke training curriculum.
2) Practical training - Using a dummy arm to put the theory into practise.
3) On site supervision - Supervising and help you build confidence to bleed on live patients.
Phlebotomy Theory Training
The Phlebotomy Trainer curriculum has been carefully developed to not only cover all the fundamental principles of venipuncture but also covers the day to day aspects of a Phlebotomists role to provide practical advice to enhance the service you provide to your patients.
The curriculum covers aspects such as:
Health and Safety
Infection Control
Complications
Equipment
Dealing with difficult patients
Procedures and Protocols
Customer Care
All students are provided with a manual to take away for future reference.
The fun part!
This is where we put the theory into practise by using specially made dummy arms and real equipment to allow you to draw 'blood'.
The bleeding involves drawing blood from the upper arm and the back of the hand.
All our equipment are to the latest standards.
Phlebotomy Practical Training
Whilst we prepare you in the best possible way, there is nothing like training on site. Many of our students prefer to have supervision on site for a set of blood draws to ensure they have the confidence to put their skills into practise.
We would supervise and provide confidence boost while you draw blood on patients in your work environment.
